Job Description: To help us do this essential work and drive employee engagement and culture, The New York Times is hiring interns for our internal communications team, Culture & Communications. The individuals in these roles will create content for a variety of digital and multimedia platforms and vehicles, telling stories that embody the spirit, strength of character and mission of The Times, and amplifying the employee value proposition. The interns will be trusted stewards of our mission and culture across the organization, helping to improve the employee experience for our 6,000 employees, while reinforcing the values that have sustained us over the past 170 years.We are looking for talented and creative individuals who are resourceful and can work at a fast pace to field and develop ideas and stories that engage employees across all facets of our organization.

Primary Responsibilities: Content Creation

  • Draft content for a broad range of communications and channels, including digital, print, reports, presentations, newsletters, videos, etc.
  • Collaborate with creative professionals to develop multimedia content, including graphics, social and web posts, long-form narratives and videos.
  • Collaborate with the Employee Storytelling & Content team to support execution of the global content strategy through identification and development of stories and content for our employees that deepen their connections to the organization, build a sense of community and contribute to strengthening our culture.

Operations and Project Management

  • Organize and help compile data driven reports on the successes and challenges of the Culture and Communications team’s communications efforts.

Basic Qualifications: About You:

  • Undergraduate student focused on Communications, Marketing, Project Management, or Writing; a strategic thinker with a strong interest in the communications field.
  • Demonstrated passion and aptitude for creative storytelling; talented writer and content creator with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Team player and collaborator with strong communication and interpersonal skills who builds connections across the organization that contribute to creating a strong pipeline of employee storytelling opportunities.
  • A creative thinker who takes initiative to execute tasks efficiently and at high speed.
  • Familiarity with data software tools is a plus; proficiency with digital communications tools and systems, such as Slack and WordPress is necessary.

About Our Internship

  • The program runs for 10 weeks, starting in June 2023.
  • It is a hybrid position that must be completed on site in New York City.

The rate of base pay for this role is $20.00 per hour.
