Position:              PR & Social Media Internship

Location:             New York City – 10017

Start Date:          May 28, 2019

End Date:            August 2, 2019



Internship Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the PR/SM and branding team with day-to-day activities such as background research on reporters/producers, talent/influencers, and industry partners/conferences.
  • Drafting Ad Council brand and social good campaign press materials, including press releases, pitches, talking points and blog posts.
  • Creating social media content/messaging for social communities for the Ad Council brand (primary channels include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube).
  • Contributing to PR and social media strategy brainstorming sessions.
  • Working with external agencies, vendors and partners on content production, media relations, talent engagement and other types of programs.
  • Monitoring Ad Council, campaign, issue and industry news coverage and content performance, preparing coverage reports and summaries/analyses of PR and social media activities.
  • Serving as the PR/SM lead, collaborate with Ad Council interns to identify the next pressing social issue to become an Ad Council campaign. The intern team will work through the end of the summer program to research, develop and present a campaign proposal to the Ad Council staff.


  • Undergraduate-level student who is social media savvy – platforms beyond Facebook and Twitter
  • Excellent writer – can adjust copy to various mediums/audiences (including talking points, social posts, pitches, etc.)
  • Extraordinary verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Passionate about social good and philanthropy
  • Team player who works well with others

We also have the opportunity to work with our Board of Director companies such as Amazon, Facebook, Google/YouTube, Vice and R/GA to leverage the latest tactics, tools and platforms that will have the most significant social impact.
