Public Relations Internship Information
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities:
Intern will support all members of the PR/Communications staff in a media relations capacity and will learn how to develop and implement publicity strategies for SiriusXM’s entertainment, music and sports programming as well as SiriusXM’s technical products. Additionally, intern will assist in creating and distributing press materials which accurately reflect the unique content of on-air programs along with providing assistance in monitoring programming for possible press opportunities and support staff members as they fulfill daily media inquiries.
Preferred Technical Skills: Proficiency in basic computer programs (Word, Excel)
Good communication and writing skills. Detail oriented. Basic knowledge of/High interest in entertainment, sports, music.
Goals and Objectives: Learn to create press materials, including writing press releases and media alerts, which accurately reflect SiriusXM programming. – Update and organize SiriusXM’s media contacts/distribution lists and research outlets for new PR opportunities. – Track SiriusXM mentions in various press outlets; Assemble press clip packs to show the reach of SiriusXM’s publicity efforts. – Learn how to plan and manage press events. – Work closely with SiriusXM talent relations department to help PR in interactions with guests and talent. – Gain experience in corporate environment.
