Intern Job Description
Intern needed to help build up the brand and worldwide following of a legendary sports and movie icon – Johnny Weissmuller (of Tarzan and Olympic swimming fame). A unique opportunity to work with the image and legacy of an international star as we focus on managing the increased spotlight on Weissmuller being generated by the upcoming release of a new Hollywood blockbuster Tarzan franchise and the Summer Olympics swimming events. You will be working directly with the Weissmuller Estate in conjunction with CMG Worldwide*, industry leader for intellectual property rights and marketing celebrity legends, particularly with the EVP who is one of the pioneers in the licensing field.
Summer internship starting ASAP, with possibilities for extension and course credit.
Hours are flexible, and could vary on a weekly basis; work from home with a few meetings in NY/NJ area. Approximately 10-15 hours per week, possibly more the first month, less at other times.
Duties include: build up social media network on all platforms (FB, Tumblr, etc.); help to manage media presence in general with tie-ins to culture, sports and fashion publications/websites/blogs in the US and internationally; fine-tuning content for new official website; research and creative input on web presence, potential licensing/marketing opportunities and ways to effectively introduce JW to newer generations and capitalize on existing fan base and name recognition; input on creation and implementation of international branding strategy.
Basic video editing skills and/or literacy in other languages a plus.
Requires excellent writing and social media skills; marketing and /or public relations/communications coursework helpful. Please send a resume and paragraph on why you are interested in the position.
