About the New York Genome Center
The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, non-profit organization that leverages the collaborative resources of leading academic medical centers, research universities, and commercial organizations. Our vision is to transform medical research and clinical care in New York and beyond through the creation of one of the largest genomics facilities in North America, integrating sequencing, bioinformatics, and data management, as well as performing cutting-edge genomics research.
Assist Communications department with communications, public relations and event opportunities at the New York Genome Center;
Compile weekly analytic reports to monitor website and social media activity; create content for social media feeds;
Monitor daily science news/trends to proactively pitch NYGC, when appropriate;
Coordinate and assist with NYGC internal and external events;
Research communication/event opportunities for 2015/2016 calendar year;
Research and coordinate appropriate speaking engagements/scientific symposiums for NYGC employees;
Organize and update media lists;
Write and edit press materials; quarterly newsletter, press releases, etc.
Undergraduate degree, or currently enrolled, in Communications/PR;
Superior communications skills;
Social Media fluent;
An ability to work with others in a team setting;
Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Interest in a scientific/technology setting a plus.
