We are looking for an Intern to work in our Corporate Communications group. Interns act as fully integrated members of account teams and will be assigned a mentor for support, guidance and help in getting acclimated to the PR industry and business environment. Internship opportunity in corporate practice, with clients ranging in transportation, consumer packaged goods, healthcare and financial industries. Intern will also provide support to blogger relations team, acquiring key skills in both traditional PR and in social media space.
- Developing and updating media lists
- Media monitoring and conducting media outreach
- Writing media pitch letters and press materials
- Support for blogger relations team
- Attending brainstorm and professional development sessions
- Providing account team support as needed
You must be a recent college graduate with a liberal arts background or a special interest in public relations, communications, social media, journalism, marketing, English, or related coursework. A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred. Excellent writing and organizational skills are a must. Previous internships or extracurricular activities are a plus. Proficiency in MS Office applications and Internet research is required.
Assistant Account Executive, Corporate Communications
Porter Novelli, a global top-ten public relations agency, is seeking a strong Assistant Account Executive for the expanding Corporate Communications group of our flagship New York office. AAE will work on corporate and B2B accounts and on new business opportunities, with a dynamic and highly-motivated team. The AAE plays an active role in coordinating and implementing daily account activity on behalf of the client under the direct supervision of a Senior Account Executive or a higher level supervisor. Offices are located downtown at 7 World Trade Center, with sweeping 360 degree views of New York City and surrounding boroughs.Duties and Responsibilities:
Requires understanding of corporate and internal communications.
•Execute client activities in a proactive, timely and efficient manner.
•Highly organized with ability to manage up and down.
•Exhibit a deep understanding of clients and accounts.
•Liaise with client and produce high quality communications content both internally and externally.
•Conduct daily activities for clients in a way that exceeds their expectations.
•Write press materials, correspondence, conference/activity reports and other documents.
•Conduct research as appropriate (e.g., media outlets, competitive activities, market trends).
•Assist with planning and executing media activities and special events.
•Participate in team, division and brainstorming sessions.
•Track publicity results and other measurements.
•Develop relationships with media and manage media lists.

Knowledge and Skills:
•Demonstrates aptitude for the basics of public relations and media relations.
•Understands uses of PR tools: news releases, media kits, media tours and media relations.

Education and Work experience:
•One to two years of experience required, agency background preferred.
•BA degree preferably in Communications, Journalism, English or PR related discipline.
Social Media Content Producer
Porter Novelli has an immediate need for a Social Media Content Producer. The purpose of this role is to assist in the management of consumer social media content and distribution related to a global technology account. Community management for this client will operate like a newsroom – always-on content creation, distribution and optimization.
Community Management Overview:
•Must confidently speak on behalf of the brand externally and must represent the voice of the customer internally
•Serves as a hub for internal collaboration on the social media front as well as a funnel to distribute external messages
•Connects and fosters conversation with customers online; taking learnings and feedback to client departments internally
•Has a strong understanding of the role that content and communities play in brand loyalty and purchase consideration – ability to integrate this into influencer PR programs and campaigns
•Must adhere to FTC guidelines and internal client guidelines
•Work to develop social media content calendar and coordinate collection of assets
•Field ad-hoc requests for insights from clients and internal teams
•Develop blog content in a timely manner
•Serves as a social media consumer relations/public relations representative for external audiences
•Fosters online relationships in the communities and provides client with consumer insights (i.e., concerns, questions, issues, etc.)
•Responsible for Influencer identification, relationship management, tracking and reporting
•Proactive in initiating and maintaining conversations
•New community identification, building and sustenance
•Manage and evolve response protocol, working closely with internal stakeholders to escalate issues appropriately
•Rapid responder to mitigate issues and negative mentions
•Understanding of industry standards for handling crisis communications in social media

•Ability to connect the dots between content delivery, forums, and campaign objectives

•Proficient in uploading relevant content

•Experience working with integrated digital programs
•Some Marcom, PR, client-side, brand and/or creative agency experience preferred
